six months old

Our baby girl is six months old!  Today we went to her check-up.  I am so thankful for health insurance  and uneventful doctor appointments.  The nurse weighed and measured her.  21 pounds and almost 27 inches long.  (Whoa Nelly!)  Then we waited for the doctor and Hope busied herself with shredding the rolled out paper on the table.

And now, the list of things I want to remember but won't have to since they're documented here:

* She wears size 4 diapers.  (It cracks me up how the baby on the package of her diapers is standing up, bent over at the waist preparing to do a forward roll.)
*She wears size 9-12 month clothes.  I hope she doesn't outgrow some of her summer clothes before the weather warms up.
*She's a pretty serious baby.  She loves to watch and take it all in.  No one can make her laugh like her big sister.  Sometimes I get onto Reese for getting too rough or intense but Hope under minds me by laughing.
*When she gets excited she pants and sticks her tongue out like a puppy dog.
*When she's hungry she swings her right leg around and around.  We call it her Elvis leg.
*She eats four times a day.  We'll introduce baby/solid food this month.
*She's in bed by 8:00 and wakes up at 7:00.  She takes two good naps a day and sometimes a few more cat naps.  Last week we set up the crib and now she sleeps in there.
*It's getting harder to carry her around.  Not only does she weigh a lot, but she's getting a lot stronger too.  The other day at a birthday party, I thought my arms were going to fall off. :)
* She has pretty much mastered sitting up.  She lunges and grabs at everything in sight.  Sometimes when she's sitting on the floor she'll fold all the way over with her head touching the ground, stay there for a few seconds and then lift herself back up.  Dan doesn't like it when she does that. :)
*Two days ago she rolled over, tummy to back for the very first time.  Danny and I both saw her do it and we cheered and cheered.
*When she grabs Dan's face her little arms are just long enough to reach both of his ears.

Congratulations Hope Margaret!  How can it be in just six months you've gone from this

to this???

s-o-l-d

Look what came to our yard.
One year and five months ago we put this house on the market.  Then we staged and showed and prayed and showed and doubted and cried and showed some more.

Five days ago we accepted an offer and signed a contract.  Then we called someone.  It started to sink in.  Then I cheered all day long and Chica asked me to stop saying "YEA!" please.

"Baby, how many times have we prayed for this house to sell?"

"Um, forty."  She replied.  (Times that by one hundred and you might be right, I thought.)

Three days ago, our realtor put this sign in the yard.  Today we passed inspection.  In twenty days we're moving.

We are moving.

It still hasn't hit me.  It will at some point.  In the meantime, there are closets to empty, boxes to pack and friends to see.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for praying with us.

Let the chaos begin continue!

giggle baby

Sometimes Hopie laughs so hard it sounds like she's crying. :) Kind of reminds me of this video from a couple of years ago.

a shopping milestone

Yesterday Hope did something Reesie's asked about since the day we brought her baby sister home from the hospital.

She rode in the front of the shopping cart!  My arm is so grateful not to be lugging the car seat into the store with us.  And big sister was beside herself excited.  She tousled Hopie's hair, patted her head and gave her several headlock hugs from behind.  Little sister laughed and laughed.

If that's not breaking news, I don't know what is. :)

funniest home video

video
Last night I pulled out Danny's phone to record Baby Sister sitting up.  Like a moth to a flame, Chica saw the camera and had to join the show.  The best part of the video is Hope's face as she reacts to her big sister stealing her thunder.  (Right at 30 seconds.)  Dan and I watched it 14 times in a row and laughed and laughed.

5 months old!

*Edited to add- I am so sorry about the wonky formatting of this post.  Not sure how to fix it!

I don't know if there's ever been a more pitiful excuse of a blog on the face of the Internet. A whole month has gone by?? Part of my problem is I've been spared from the grandparent harassment. :) Instead of having to get their updates here, they were content loving on the girls face to face over Christmas. But I'm afraid the grace period is up and if I don't post some grand-baby pictures quickly, there may be an uprising.

We're also at that stage in life where the girls nap at different times. So from the time they wake up in the morning until both are tucked in at night, this mama is running around meeting as many needs as I can. Recently "free time" has consisted of falling into bed or changing out our ever growing baby's clothes once again. Speaking of our baby...she is five months old today!
I love this precious baby. She's so sweet. Watching her big sister run around and cracking up as she darts by is her favorite thing to do. She's so close to sitting up for an extended period of time. (Still wobbles and tips over after a bit.) No rolling yet. She wears nine month clothes and size 4 diapers. She's my Sleeping Beauty baby. (8:00-7:00 at night and three naps during the day.) At Christmas people passed her around and around and she was content.

She's starting to teeth. Her hands are often in her mouth. If she's like her sister, this will go on for several more months before a tooth shows up. She likes to growl and talk. Sometimes she laughs so hard it sounds like she's crying. I know the feeling. :) This past month she's been learning how to use her arms and hands to reach out and grab something she wants. It's fascinating to watch her little mind figure it out.
Thanks bloggers, for putting up with my inconsistency and for letting me jot down a few things I'd risk forgetting otherwise.
Have a great weekend!
