she'll make you wish you were shred
I'd like to introduce you to my new frenemie, Jillian. She's part of Operation Get Buff in 30 Days. This post on Vicki Courtney's site tipped me off to Jillian's dvd, the latest trend in workouts.

It promises to help you lose 20 pounds in 30 days. For the record, I have no desire to lose 20 pounds, so that part didn't sell me on it.
It promises to tone and strengthen you. Considering I haven't seen the likes of abdominal muscles since before I was pregnant, that perk was enticing, but wasn't what closed the deal either.
I purchased this exercise dvd at Target yesterday because the entire workout (strength, cardio, and abs) takes twenty minutes a day. Two Zero. Five more than fifteen. The same amount of time it takes me to take a shower, vacuum the house, or iron a pair of pants. (I'm really slow at ironing.)
The truth is, I love to work out. I grew up in a very active family. My problem is making the time to do it. So when Vicki testified to speedy results in 20 minutes, I took the plunge.
If you get the dvd, you need to make sure you have weights as well. I purchased the 3 pounders, because, well I'm a weenie.
Reesie has taken a keen interest in my workout regimen. During the abs portion, she was kind enough to come over and lie on me.
I'll know it's really working if Danny notices a difference. Who knows? He may just wake up to this tomorrow morning.

That tends to happen when you lift three pound weights.

idol input
American Idol's on tonight (in five minutes to be exact) and it's down to the final four! In case you're totally out of the loop, consider yourself now informed. You're welcome.
*Side note* Is it just me who finds it fascinating that God knows who's going to win? I mean, He knows everything, and certainly things more important than the winner of American Idol Season 26. But while we're all fixed to the edge of our seats, taking bets, clueless of the outcome, He's sitting there on His throne, knowing full well. Craziness I tell you. Crizzity crazy.
Anyways.
I hope Danny Gokey and Kris Allen make it to the finals, with Danny winning it all.
I liked Allison Irheta a lot in the beginning. But she's just kind of been, eh, take her or leave her for me. I definitely like her better than Adam Lambert. I can't figure that guy out. He's freakishly talented with a freakish range, but at the end of the day, it all comes out kind of... freaky. I can't imagine what kind of album he'd make, nor would I rush to the store to get one.
I hope he gets the boot tonight so Allison can sing another week.
That's my two cents. Which, in the music business is worth about one tenth of a cent. The same amount coupons are worth if you try to redeem them for cash. Seriously, next time you have a coupon, check out the tiny legal stuff on the back. You can redeem it for one tenth of a cent. Dead serious.
Seriously? Am I still talking?
Ok, Ramble McRambleson signing off. I've got to go wrestle the remote away from Dan'l.
Good luck to all the contestants.
(Warm up the bus Adam Lambert.)

please don't call the cops on me
Somehow I don't think this is exactly what the inventors of the bouncy seat had in mind when they created it.
No baby was harmed in the making of this video.

I hope you're not eating
because this post might do a number on your appetite.
Do you know what this is?

It's a picture of my poor baby's back.

Last Monday, after her well baby visit, she broke out on her legs and her arms. I assumed it was a reaction to her immunizations so I dialed the after hours nurse. She told me to put cortizon cream on it.

At that point the rash covered parts of her arms and legs. She didn't scratch it, and it didn't spread. But it didn't go away either. Sunday morning she woke up and the rash stretched over her stomach and wrapped around her back. Even her ears were covered.

She wasn't too happy about it.

We kept her out of church nursery (for fear of getting the boot) and I took her to the doctor. Turns out my poor daughter has hand foot and mouth disease. Not to be confused with her mother's chronic illness, foot in mouth disease. The doctor must have sensed my impending emotional breakdown upon hearing the diagnosis of "disease" because she spent the next several minutes assuring me it was a very common condition.
And it could be much worse. She could have hoof and mouth disease, which is what I've almost called it in multiple conversations. Thanks to trusty WebMD I learned hoof and mouth disease only occurs in cattle, sheep and swine. Seriously, who needs a medical degree when you have the Internet?
You know what's ironic about the whole situation? She picked it up at her check up. She arrived at her well baby appointment, a well baby and left with a disease. I'm considering scheduling her 15 month check up with Dr. WebMD.

our little amelia earhart
I love my friends. I have some of the best friends in the world. One of them, Debs, made the loooong trip to be with me as my only baby turned one and to help with her party. She cooked, cleaned, ran errands, got up early and went to bed late. While we ran around town like two crazy women, she kept me from losing it altogether. See how fun she is?

As if all that wasn't enough, that punk of a friend went and bought the Big Girl a present. A riding airplane. With Elmo as co-pilot.

It plays music, lights up, spins its propeller and best of all, you can activate all those features with the touch of a button located on the handle. Reesie loves to push the button over and over again with her little thumb. She loves her airplane.

If she gets her father's vision she might just be a pilot when she grows up. Her Grandad flew in the Air Force. He could teach her some maneuvers. Of course, my protective mama instinct wouldn't mind her flying commercially.
Or just flying with Elmo, for the time being.

Because when you fly the friendly skies with him, pants are optional.

one year stats
Monday Reesie went to the doctor for her one year check up. First they pricked her finger to test her iron level. Big Girl didn't even flinch when the nurse poked her with the needle! Immediately I texted Dan to inform him of his beast of a daughter.
The nurse wrapped a cute little band-aid on her finger. I couldn't wait to come home and take a picture of it to put on the blog. Alas, the band-aid never made it to the car. Big Girl chewed it off while we were waiting for the doctor. Is that too gross to share? Sorry. Big Girl promptly removed her band-aid while we were waiting for the doctor.
I texted that to Dan too and truly, I'm not sure what made him prouder. The fact his daughter took a needle like a champ or that she gnawed off her own bandage.
I did learn that Reese is weighs twenty pounds and is _______ inches long. Those measurements place her in the 55% for weight and 50% for height.
I decided to google how much The Chica would weigh on all the planets in our solar system, just in case space travel becomes the next big tourist attraction. You can never be too prepared to planet hop.
Right now Reesie would weigh 3.2 pounds on the moon. (I am aware that the moon isn't technically a planet, but it's the most feasible of destinations considering we wouldn't immediately burn up in its atmosphere.)
She'd weigh 541.4 pounds on the sun. I wouldn't be caught dead there.
Here's the rest of the measurements:
7.4 pounds on Mercury.
18 pounds on Venus.
7.4 pounds on Mars.
47 pounds on Jupiter. (Wild space ships couldn't drag me there.)
18.2 pounds on Saturn.
17.6 pounds on Uranus.
22.4 pounds on Neptune.
1.2 pounds on Pluto.
I'm thinking Pluto's our best bet. Considering its popularity is down because it lost its Planet-ship status, the lines wouldn't be horrendous. Plus carrying around a one pound baby would be a wonderful break for these tired arms.
So, how much do you weigh on Pluto? Click here to find out.
Reesie always loves it when I dedicate a post to her weight.
